It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Hey Guys,

Today I'll be reviewing our book of the month for An Infinite Philosophy, now I'm aware we haven't been the most consistant with our collab reviews for An Infinite Philosophy but it's mostly to do with our lives being to full or book slumps, so I'm sorry about our inconsistancy but we think we've solved the problem, but I tell you about that next year.
Anyway this month's book was It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, and as usual I was first to finish it and am here with a review.

I feel like this book had many of Colleen's siginature plot traits but there were some new things. I really enjoyed it, though it surprised me. A while back I watched a interview with her and she mentioned this novel but she said she would write from two male point of views which I was excited about. However, it wasn't written like that but I still loved it. The characters, as usual were very relatable even though their situations are nothing like I've experienced.

The book is told from Lily's point of veiw, she was involved with a boy called Atlas in her past, and she's currently with a different boy. Then she runs into Atlas again. I think unlike other Colleen books it can still be very enjoyable even if you know all of what happens as it really is all in the detail and the writing.

This is where I leave all the non-spoilerys, I recommend picking this up though I do prefer some of her other books over this one. Anything by Colleen Hoover is wonderful and I would highly recommend her as an author. I'm sorry if it all seems a bit rushed and un-edited but I'm writing this really quickly and I'll edit after my holiday.
I will see all you non-spoilerys later...

Welcome to my flower shop of spoilers,

I think at the beginning none of us were really all that into Ryle. I never really like him that much through the book, I think although Lily had quite an impact on his character he still had many flaws that I couldn't get over. I loved the beginning scene with them on the roof though, I think it gave a really interesting start to their relationship, I think both of them had a massive impact on eachother before they really knew eachother.

I really enjoyed Allysa's character I found her supporting role as a best friend as well as Ryle sister gave her a unique perspective on their relationship. I also think she had a really lovely attitude and her excitement really began to rub off on me.
Marshall also played a really key role in the book a just that light hearted person that we need to make the book a less dark place.

As you may or may not know I love reading different formats of writing eg. letters or scripts, so I really enjoyed reading Lily's 'ellen diary's'. I think it was an interesting way to delve into the past and hear her past story.

I think the thing that surprised me most was that Lily and Ryle didn't end up together. It surprised me because Colleen is a massive person for happily ever afters and even though Lily got hers with Atlas Ryle didn't get his.

One of the reasons I didn't like Ryle that much was his similarity to Lily's father. At his funeral she couldn't think of one nice thing to say about him and I was worried that something like that might become of their marriage. I didn't like that he always had an excuse for everything, like his story about his brother.

I would have really liked to learn more about Atlas, he played a major part in Lily's story and I would have liked to hear a little bit more backstory or at least known what had happened at home in more detail. I think hearing about his time in the military would have also been a nice addition to the story.

That's all I can say about it,  there are many more things but I have to draw this to a close. I would love to hear your thoughts on the book in the comments, apologies again for grammatical incorrectness and I will see you soon.
Happy Reading!

-A
