It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Hey Guys,

Today I'll be reviewing our book of the month for An Infinite Philosophy, now I'm aware we haven't been the most consistant with our collab reviews for An Infinite Philosophy but it's mostly to do with our lives being to full or book slumps, so I'm sorry about our inconsistancy but we think we've solved the problem, but I tell you about that next year.
Anyway this month's book was It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, and as usual I was first to finish it and am here with a review.

I feel like this book had many of Colleen's siginature plot traits but there were some new things. I really enjoyed it, though it surprised me. A while back I watched a interview with her and she mentioned this novel but she said she would write from two male point of views which I was excited about. However, it wasn't written like that but I still loved it. The characters, as usual were very relatable even though their situations are nothing like I've experienced.

The book is told from Lily's point of veiw, she was involved with a boy called Atlas in her past, and she's currently with a different boy. Then she runs into Atlas again. I think unlike other Colleen books it can still be very enjoyable even if you know all of what happens as it really is all in the detail and the writing.

This is where I leave all the non-spoilerys, I recommend picking this up though I do prefer some of her other books over this one. Anything by Colleen Hoover is wonderful and I would highly recommend her as an author. I'm sorry if it all seems a bit rushed and un-edited but I'm writing this really quickly and I'll edit after my holiday.
I will see all you non-spoilerys later...

YALC 2016 Experience + Haul

Hey Guys,

I feel like I start every post with me apologising for something but I make a lot of mistakes so it's to be expected. So, I'm sorry for my recent absence my life hasn't been very busy, but my days seem to be full. I'm going to Canada tomorrow which I'm really excited about, so in advance I'm writing a good amount to get myself ready.

Anyway, the point of this post was to tell you about YALC which I attended with four friends. We only went on one day which was Sunday 31st July and we were there from about 10:00 until 5:30 so most of the day. I thought I would talk you through what we did and what I thought as well as talking about the books I bought and got signed.

When we arrived the first thing we did was purchase the YALC tote bag, then we signed up to a writing workshop, we attended the fanfiction workshop which was hosted by Lucy Saxon at 11:00. Although the workshop was quite interesting and included some tips you might me able to apply to normal fiction writing we were expecting something a bit more interactive. She talked a lot about the different types of fic and what affects the look of your writing.

After that we proceeded to walk around and have a look at the different publishing stalls, sign up to different things and pick up freebies including a hell of a lot of badges. Overall I got 33 free badges, two free totes and one I paid for, seven chapter samplers and three books. We also met met some lovely authors and got our bags and books signed.

After having a walk around we attended one of the panels. At 1:00 we went to the #morallycomplicatedYA panel. There were four authors there who talked about the complication of morals in their characters and how their emotions affect their writing. They talked about the censorship of their books in shops and even countries. The authors were Louise O'Neill, Melvin Burgess, Emerald Fennell and Manuela Salvi. We all agreed that the panel was the highlight of the day, it was really eye opening for me as it opened a new window in writing. We enjoyed it so much that we bought books one of the authors and queued to meet some of them.

After the panel we ate our lunch and read for a bit in the reading area. We were considering attending the Potter Party but after a while it got a bit boring so instead we went back to reading as well having a look at the publishing stands and picking up some books during the flash sales.

Now we reach the haul part of this post, I'll make lists under different categories to make this slightly easier.

Like I mentioned I got seven chapter samplers, some of the books have been released whilst others haven't (there will a * next to the books that haven't been released):

~ Ink by Alice Broadway*
~ Girl Hearts Girl by Lucy Sutcliffe
~ Holding up the Universe by Jennifer Niven*
~ This Raging Light by Estelle Laure
~ Broken Sky by L.A. Weatherly
~ Unconventional by Maggie Harcourt*
~ Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo*

I took two books with me to get signed but I bought some others whilst I was there, I'll list the books I bought first, then the ones I got signed:

~ Girl Hearts Girl by Lucy Sutcliffe
~ Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy
~ Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill

I got signed:

~ A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
~ Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
~ Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill
(I also got my tote bag signed by those authors as well as Emerald Fennell)

Overall I had an absolutely lovely time and am really looking forward to attending next year. I would recommend the main panels if you are going to attend as the one I attended was fantastic.
Happy Reading!

Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill

Hey Guys,

Today I'm going to be reviewing a book I didn't read during BookTube-a-Thon, I actually bought this one at YALC. However, I have such strong opinions about this book that I really wanted to review it now instead of waiting. That book is Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill.

Whilst at YALC we attended the 'Morally complicated in YA' panel where four different authors, including Louise, talked about morals and censorship in their books. After reading this book I can certainly agree that the main character is 100% morally complicated, but then again so is the whole book.
It was a really interesting book to read as it was the complete opposite to what everyone is striving for right now. It was so anti-feminism it kind of registered as a culture shock.
The main character is someone you feel pity for and sympathise with but you’re not sure why. She is quite nasty without realizing it, and so dangerously needy.

The book is mainly about owning women and general female oppression it's quite a hard book to sum up as it covers so many topics. However, it is one of the best books I've ever read, it's massively eye opening to how far women have come. I was literally hooked from page one, which is odd because it's not like an insane amount happens it's just so well. Nothing but praise.

I would so recommend this book, I'm really excited to read her other book 'Asking for it' it sounds just as good.
This is where I tell all the non-spoilerys to depart and read the book, and we cool people who have read it can venture forward...

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Hey guys,

After my short break I'm back to review everything! Like, ever. During the BookTube-a-Thon I did actually finish some books which I did promise I'd review plus I really need to rant to someone about all of the stuff that went down. I feel like I haven't reviewed in ages though I know I have.
Today I will be reviewing Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

I'd like to start by saying holy hell! This book started off as a nice simple contemporary with a bit of character development and an intense love story but no, it got insane. I did enjoy the story line and I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel. I think the characters both had issues which were really well approached during the book. And, as the trademark for a Colleen book the main character had a tragic past, I think the issues were approached very sensitively but they were also a bit extreme. I really REALLY enjoyed it, to the point where I couldn't put it down.

The book mainly focuses on a girl called Sky Davis who meats a boy called Holder. Together they begin to discover her and his past. It sounds cheesy but it is really good. I think all the little details are best for you to figure out when you read it for yourself.

Another non-spoiler section done. I would really recommend this along side any other Colleen Hoover book as they are all spectacular.
I would also recommend that you go pick up our book of the month which is now It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, funnily enough. I will see you soon...
Onto the spoilers:
